We all know that saying don’t we?
It was a very eventful weekend with Max being very dominant again. Firstly he got Sprintpole and you could already see Lando was a bit agitated, because he didn’t really congratulate Max.
The next day Max showed his superiority again and taught Lando the lesson to never leave the door open. Lando was angry about that part.
Then it became Sunday, race day. Max was on pole again and Lando P2 again.
Max had a great start and took the lead. After the last pitstop when they both went on the mediums, it was game on. Lando having the advantage of a new tyre tried to go for the win.
He tried all kinds of dives into the corner to overtake Max, but failed. You could easily see and hear that Lando became more and more aggravated when Max raced him hard.
I was already preparing myself for a collision, because it was clear that that was about to happen.
So the lucky third dog that went away with it was George and very well deserved it. Then Oscar saved the day by finishing P2 and Carlos saved Ferrari by becoming third.
After the champain the media exploded. British media outing their frustrations they built up for coping with Max’s dominance for 2 years. They went nuts and slandered Max left, right and center.
In their opinion it was all Max’s fault. Jolyon Palmer said that we saw the old too aggressive Max once again and of course AD21 had to be picked up too. Will Buxton was also ranting on how bad Max’s driving was today.
None of them took a step back and have a more realistic look at the situation.
Yes Max was maybe a bit too harsh with his racing, and he got a penalty for it. But Lando was also driving very erratically when trying to overtake. It showed his insecurity and it cost him dearly.
It was also very strange that the inevitable 5 seconds penalty for track limits took so long for the stewards to announce towards Lando. That could have changed the outcome because then Max would’ve let Lando overtake and just had to stay within the 5 seconds and still won the race. But I guess the stewards had trouble with deciding the outcome for their fellow countryman. Yes, I think they wanted to wait until Lando took over the lead and then when Lando was 6 seconds in front of Max and the race was in the last lap, then they would bring out the penalty. Because if it were the other way around, the 5 second penalty would already have been given.
Lando demands a huge mea culpa from Max now, because Lando thought he drove perfectly. Again, this shows that Lando needs to grow up a bit more. He also could do a bit of self reflection.
And now it’s the day after and I hope both of the drivers will have a good talk in private, shake hands, post a selfie of themselves and move on.
The haters will keep on hating, like always. The booing at Silverstone will be louder than loud. Because they all petty Lando and the British media will milk this as far as they can go.
So it will be hectic in Silverstone and I wish all the RedBull supporters strength, you’re gonna need it.

Ik ben het eens dat lando erg gefrustreerd is. Als hij de rust had bewaard was de uitkomst misschien anders voor hem geweest.
Wat mij stoort is dat hij geen zelf reflectie heeft en openlijk afgeeft op Max en van alles eist van hem. Hierdoor word hij gesteund door veel media en team die dit ook openlijk doen. Dat zal inhouden dat hij dus nooit inzal zien dat hij ook fout kan zijn of een aandelen in iets kan hebben.
Ook denk ik dat Max geërgerd was, daar pitstop, auto die niet goed aanvoelt de afgelopen races en vaak op en of over limiet moet gaan. Hierin zie je Max hard verdedigen en dat mag ook dat is racen.
Ik heb het fragment terug gekeken en ben niet zo’n goede techneut, maar als ik kijk naar de auto voor Max en de lijn die deze rijd probeerd Max dit het zelfde te doen. Vervolgens volgt de touche en is de band lek links achter. Volgens mij trekt dan de auto naar links als dit gebeurd en daardoor rijdt Max een stukje rechtdoor en verklaard de vele stuurbewegingen. Lando had veel uitloop ruimte maar kiest ervoor om rechts af te slaan ook al zit Max daar. Dat kwam over alsof lando gefrustreerd was. Beide hebben een lekke band. Vervolgens na de bocht zie je Max naar de rechte kant van de baan gaan daar de race lijn links is en er verkeer aan komt. Lando is niet rustig en rijdt als een bezetene om daar Max in te halen ipv rustig te blijven en je auto niet nog verder kapot te maken.
Ook in de interviews erna zie je lando alleen wijzen naar Max terwijl Max rustig zegt dat hij eerst de beelden zal bekijken en dan met lando het gesprek aan te gaan. Hier heeft lando nog veel te leren en heeft mo te weinig ervaring in zulke situaties.
Helaas wordt hij gesteund door team en media en zal hij voorlopig niet-bindend dat ook hij fouten gemaakt heeft )divebomb, enz).
Ik zal niet zeggen dat lando anders moet racen zoals de media zegt over Verstappen daar het racen is, maar hij moet slimmer gaan doen, beter worden.
Verder ben ik benieuwd hoe de penalty van lando gaat uitpakken daar deze niet is ingelost. Heeft dit consequenties voor de race erop?
Wat ik niet helder heb is het sturen onder het remmen. Wat is nu de regels erover?
Mag je tijdens het remmen niet meer afwijken van de lijn die je hebt of mag je in de remzone niet meer van de lijn afwijken. Deze vraag daar er vaak over beide gesproken wordt maar volgens mij toch 2 verschillende zijn.
